Today’s I’M FAMOUS! takes place in the world famous Detroit Airport Light Tunnel, in all its spectacular, crazy colored light glory.

I’m so happy with the way this turned out. I keep wanting to go back and look at it! In some ways the colors remind me of a black light poster. Overall I think it is quite beautiful.

The overwhelming weirdness and cacophony of colors probably took most of your attention away from the fact that I was also trying some new things drawing-wise. I inked several panels much more heavily than usual, something I haven’t really done much of since Black Snow Issue 5. This is something I plan on experimenting more with, and you’ll see it in future comics, like the next Famous that I just finished inking.

I also went a lot further with contorting the characters to express their emotions. This is something I also did in Black Snow Issue 6, especially with the cop scenes. Again, you’ll be seeing more of this in the future as well.

What inspired me to take things to a new level? I watched all 13 episodes of The Maxx on Monday, and they reminded me of why I love to draw. The show inspired me as a young teen, and seeing it again brought back a lot of excitement and passions. It also gave me a rush that I’m still riding!
