Chim Chum and the Portly Samurai is a fun comic, and a real throwback in many ways. It is by in large a single panel comic with a one liner from the samurai about the crazy situation they are in. It is very much a newspaper style comic, so it’s interesting to see this appear as a modern day webcomic. In many ways it reminds me of the comics of my youth and and the type of comic strip I originally wanted to draw.

Recently the comic’s creator, Adrian Ropp, drew a very fun Lone Wolf for me and I tried to return the favor here. How’d I do? I don’t know. It’s early to judge as I only finished a few hours ago, but at this point I’m moderately happy with it. Honestly, I had a hard time drawing this, especially the fox. Cute anthropomorphic animals are not something I’ve spent much time drawing since childhood. I redrew things a lot, and never felt I got them quite the way I wanted them.

I like some things about it, like the coloring, but there are other things I think I could do better if I tried again, starting from scratch. Oh well. I did what I could. Maybe I’m being overly critical. Hopefully Adrian likes it.

Now on to Famous.
