Day 198

Day 198 of the #365drawingchallenge is a request for a L.O.L. Surprise! doll. This was a request from my daughter, who collects these toys and watches YouTube videos about them. I saw when they had a big event at Target recently where girls were following clues that had something to do with these toys, and it was chaos. They are super popular. And I really don’t like them. They are so expensive and a large part of the package is literally garbage you through away once you open them. And they are tiny, full of choking hazard accessories. And like all blind bag type of toys you neverkow which one you are going to get, and a lot of times you end up wasting money on duplicates. I’m not a huge fan of the designs either, which remind me of those Bratz dolls.

It was actually kind of fun to draw, much to my surprise. The giant eyes and simple forms are kind of appealing in drawing form. There were a ton of different ones to choose from, and I mainly chose this one because I liked her coloring. I have no idea which one it is. Drawing for/doing girly stuff with my daughter is kind of a funny thing. I try to at least let her share her interests with me, and find some aspects of them to enjoy with her. With these dolls it is a little fun to see her add to her collection and see which one she’ll get next, similar to when my son would collect Trash Packs. At least those were reasonably priced. You might say I’m a cheap man, but I’ll never get over how much these damn things cost.
