Day 245
Day 245 of the #365drawingchallenge is a request for the Joaquin Phoenix version of Joker. For awhile I felt like the Joker was pretty played out, then Heath Ledger brought something really new to the character. I’m thinking this movie might do the same thing, because the Joker feels like he’s in a similar rut at this point, but this movie looks like it could be something totally new. So I’m really looking forward to seeing that. And the early reviews seem very promising. I like the way this one turned out. I went with my more realistic, scratchy style that I like to do when it comes to celebrity portraits like this. There is something very manic about the look on his face that I really wanted to capture here. I always wanted to be a little loose with my scratchy shading to emphasize the chaos. It’s kind of my natural style anyway. I prefer it over something a little more polished. In middle school I fell in love with punk rock music, and I always wished I had some musical talent so I could actually play it. Well, I don’t, but I’m pretty good at drawing and I’ve always tried to incorporate some of that punk attitude and style into my work.
