Day 258

Day 258 of the #365drawingchallenge is the evil Superman analogue, Brightburn. I just saw this movie this morning after I rented it from Redbox and I really enjoyed it. I was fairly interested and confused when I first saw the preview as it seemed so obviously inspired by Superman but didn’t seem to be Superman, which is basically exactly what it turned out to be. I wonder if it was as obvious to people less familiar with Superman. Anyway, I thought it was good, and it was interesting seeing it only a few weeks after watching the boys and seeing a similar character in Homelander. It could have explored things a little more and been a bit more nuanced, but then it wouldn’t have been so effective as a horror movie. I’d like to see a sequel or expanded universe from it, which seems to be the thing to do these days.
