Day 281

Day 281 of the #365drawingchallenge continues #31DaysOfHalloween with another classic Universal Monster, Elsa Lanchester as the Bride of Frankenstein. This is maybe the best example I can think of to illustrate making the most of your time. Everyone knows the Bride of Frankenstein’s iconic look, and if you actually watch the movie she is barely in it at the end in her monster form. But she really makes the most of those few minutes with both the striking look and a strong performance. There is so much build up and it does pay off really well. It’s a really a great movie, and in some ways even more fun than the original. For whatever reason I don’t draw a lot of woman, and really don’t focus on beauty or pin up style drawings. I spend more of my time drawing sort of worn down looking men and cartoon characters. So it’s kind of funny that this monster strikes me as one of the more beautiful drawings I’ve done.
