Day 298 of the #365drawingchallenge continues #31DaysOfHalloween with Peter Cushing as Dr. Frankenstein from the Hammer films. I only really got into the Hammer classic horror revival films within about the last 6 or 7 years. I’m not sure what I would have thought of them when I was younger, but seeing them as an adult I can really appreciate them. The classic gothic horror style is done very well. I love the Universal Frankenstein movies, as I talked about when I drew that earlier this month, and what I like here is that this is an entirely different take on the subject. first and foremost, the doctor is the focus of these films, making new creations each time. And that’s a really fascinating take that makes it so different from most Frankenstein movies. And Peter Cushing is amazing as the doctor. He brings an air of high society to the role, and while he portrays himself as a very proper man you get glimpses into his darker side.
