Day 322 of the #365drawingchallenge is the incomparable Don Knotts in his iconic role as deputy Barney Fife. I love the Andy Griffith Show. It is still one of the funniest shows ever made. I’ve been told since around the age of 12 that I have an old soul. Maybe it’s because for the most part I’ve always been a pretty calm, mature person. The fact that I really like older things as far as media is probably also part of it. I don’t really care what year something came out, if it’s good it engages me. And quite frankly there were some periods that just tended to produce higher quality entertainment. Not to say I don’ like modern stuff. I guess it just means I like it all. And I think Don Knotts was one of the funniest comedians ever. He is just hilarious, whether it was his movies like The Ghost and Mr. Chicken or The Incredible Mr. Limpet, or TV shows like Three’s Company or Andy Griffith. His performance is always memorable and makes me laugh. And Barney Fife is my favorite role. He is just so damn good at it. And I was really hoping to just capture a little of that here. There are so many amazing poses I could have done where he is scared or smug, and I just that this one captured his false bravado really well. And I really just wanted to keep it in the classic grayscale like the show, but I like the idea of the colored background making it pop.
