Day 328
Day 328 of the #365drawingchallenge is the truth seeking FBI agents Mulder and Scully from The X-Files. I love The X-Files, it may be my favorite show. It was one of the first shows I would consider appointment viewing in my life. Whether it was on Friday or Sunday I have fond memories of gathering with my grandpa, uncle and aunt to watch together and discuss the episode after. And it was such a cultural phenomenon that it felt like everyone was talking about. I used to talk about it with friends at school and a couple times I remember actually playing X-Files with friends. It’s one of the main sources of inspiration behind Paranormal Pinkerton. I’ll readily admit that the show went downhill very noticeably, and the mythology became super convoluted, but for at least the first half of the series I consider some of the best TV you’ll ever see. And I’ve rewatched it a million times. I actually only watched the entire series for the first time a couple years ago, I had never made it through those later seasons before. When it was airing I drop off a little after Mulder left and only came back for the final few episodes when I knew it was all ending. As far as the recent return of the show…it was disappointing. It had some good moments and a couple good episodes, but overall it did not live up to the hype. It just didn’t feel the same or up to the old standards. And I wasn’t crazy about where they had taken the characters or the mythology. So that was a letdown.
