The Maxx

The Maxx is one of my go to things to draw. I really liked The Maxx when it was first coming out and really got into the MTV cartoon. Mostly on a somewhat superficial level though. A lot of the concepts were a bit over my head. But I loved the style. And I still do. I have a better understanding of the concepts and what was being said, but honestly I still mainly like it for the visuals. Last year it was pretty awesome when someone reached out to me to draw a variant cover for the Batman/Maxx crossover comic. To be thought of as a Maxx artist on any level is really cool. No matter what I can always say I got paid to draw the Maxx and Batman. I really like the way this one turned out. It was a lot of work coming up with the pose and adding all the detail. But I really wanted to try to make it the best I could. The Maxx is actually kind of tricky to draw as he is not the most defined in his source material. The Isz are super fun to draw. I usually draw the white version, so it was cool to attempt the black version here. I like working with blue hi lites on black characters.
