I thought it would be funny to draw the renaissance artists the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles were named after wearing their masks. And I liked the idea of making them black and white except for the colorful masks to really emphasize the absurdity of these traditional old world artist being compared to these cartoon characters. This is one of those things I think is pretty clever and in the back of my mind I worry someone else has already done it. But I kind of don’t care anymore. It feels like everyone has already done everything, so I’d rather not check and do things the way I want to instead of being deterred or influenced by someone else.
