Marvin the Paranoid Android
I’m a pretty big fan of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. I’ve read all the books and own them as singles and a pretty nice giant collection that has an extra short story. I’ve listened to the radio play. I’ve also watched the BBC miniseries a few times, and the movie many times. I was really excited when the movie came out since everything else was before my time and I enjoyed retroactively. My uncle introduced me to the books when I was a kid and he would read them to me. I tend to like comedy science fiction (and comedy horror and comedy fantasy) books a lot, plus I really like English humor, so these are right up my alley. I will say that as the series goes on I found there were times that I wished they had taken things a little more seriously, because I felt pretty invested in these stories and characters by the end. They do have a great sense of imagination and creativity throughout. It’s been years since I read them, but writing about it makes me kind of feel like rereading them. Marvin was always one of my favorite characters. He is really funny in his sad, deadpan way. This drawing is based off his appearance in the movie. He does have a pretty sad fate in the books, but no spoilers here.
