Day 45

Nicktoons Week continues with Ickis, Krumm, and Oblina from Aaahh!!! Real Monsters. This is day 45 of the #365daysofdrawing for 2019. I really liked this cartoon as a kid. The idea of this secret monster world and scare school was such a great concept. Not a totally unique concept, but done well here. I loved anything spooky or macabre growing up, so this Nicktoon tapped into that. Like a lot of cartoons at the time (and now for that matter) a lot of the voices were kind of annoying, but not enough to make me stop watching.

The characters all had really interesting designs. Really varied and memorable. And a lot of fun to draw. I used to draw them as a kid along with stuff like Looney Tunes and some of the Nicktoons you’ll see me draw over the next three days. Just looking at the three main characters you can see the creativity. I also liked that the show was kind of gross. Like a lot of little boys I enjoyed slightly gross things. Not too gross, but stuff with an edge. I also remember they had a pretty decent SNES game I rented a few times from Blockbuster that reminded me of the Lost Vikings, where you had to keep switching between the characters to solve puzzles and progress.

I like the way this one turned out.
