Day 120

Day 120 of the #365drawingchallenge is a request for Iron Man. I recently rewatched all the Marvel movies before I saw Avengers: Endgame and something really stood out to me. Iron Man is a cocky, arrogant prick. More-so than I remembered. To the point of being irritating. I was still sad when he died, but I really didn’t like him much with maybe the exception of his first movie. My son did though, and he asked me to draw him. Iron Man is now his favorite Avenger.

Lately I’ve been trying to be less reliant on reference photos for my drawing. If I need to I look at a few general ones just so I have the character clear in my mind, but then I try to come up with my own pose and style. It’s not the easiest thing for me. And often the stuff where I’m sticking closer to references looks better. But I think it is important. It takes a lot more creativity to draw what you imagine than what you can see. So I’ll keep working on it, and hopefully improving on it.
