Day 212

Day 212 of the #365drawingchallenge is an original, a Happy Drunk Man. I wanted to do something different today that didn’t have a lot of shading and really focused on color. So I decided to go cartoony and use color lines instead of black and really try to avoid the more graphic style I tend to use. And if you’ve followed my comics for any length of time you probably know I like drawing drunks, so I thought that would be fun here. And I wanted him to have an old fashioned, almost 1950’s quality to him. I was picturing something in my mind in the vein of John K’s human character’s n Ren and Stimpy.

So this is what I came up with, and I really like it. I like the colors and composition of it. And the nice clean line work. It took a bit of planning and more time to do the colored lines, but I really like the results. I think it is something I’ll continue to play with.
