Day 278

Day 278 of the #365drawingchallenge continues #31DaysOfHalloween with the classic Universal Monster, Boris Karloff as the Mummy. The Mummy is probably the Universal Monster that I have the least interest in. It’s the one that I sometimes forget about. But when I actually sit down and watch the mummy movies they are pretty good and end up pulling me in. So I’m not sure why they have that odd dynamic. I went back and forth on if I wanted to draw him in his fully mummified form or his more human form, both are iconic and have their benefits. Of course the human form gets to show Karloff’s features more, and really emphasizes his eyes. So it was very tempting. But ultimate I opted for the mummy form because it has so much texture to it. It is so easy to add dimension and depth to it that I didn’t want to pass it up. And it does capture a bit of Karloff’s features.
