Day 325

Day 325 of the #365drawingchallenge is Raphael the Raven from Yoshi’s Island. I guess I’m on an unintentional video game streak here. I just realized it. I have no idea why this popped into my head today. I do love Yoshi’s Island. I’ve loved it since I first saw screenshots in Nintendo Power. It’s one of the games that I regularly go back and play. The almost hand drawn art style is just fantastic. It’s like it was made in crayon or something. And I love all the bosses. Raphael the Raven is probably my favorite because I love that you fight on this tiny planet. The whole setting is just unique and beautiful. I used a few different techniques and patterns to attempt to capture that feeling here. And I’m very happy with the end results. The character design is so simple that I wanted to really focus on the setting here, which is not what I usually do with these daily drawings. I would not mind doing a whole series of drawings based on this game.
