Spongebob Squarepants

I like Spongebob and have since it first came out. It came towards the tail end of me watching a lot of cartoons regularly, but that was a fairly short lived period. I’ve basically always enjoyed cartoons, and still do today. I know a lot of people like to complain about Spongebob dropping in quality or blame it for ruining Nickelodeon, but that’s never been my thing. My kids like it, though we don’t have cable anymore and don’t watch it often. I didn’t want to do a straight forward drawing of him, I wanted something more sinister. At first I was drawing something more detailed were he was holding his spatula in a menacing way and had a lot of facial details added, more along the lines of the Ren and Stimpy drawings I did. I did not love the way it was turning out though, so I decided to start over and go for something different. I started with the eyes and the rest just came naturally.
